Meet The Burdens
For Ken & Marlene Burden moving to Ridgeway
by the Lake was the home buying equivalent to
getting a hole in one. Ken, a former accountant
and Marlene, a former teacher were faced with a
big choice when both retired. Should they stay where they
were living, or look around for something else? Lucky for them
they decided to look around.
“It was kind of a fluke that we moved here,” Marlene said.
“We lived in a nearby town and were visiting friends here in
Ridgeway, when we decided to take a look at the beautiful
model homes here.”
“And the quality of Ridgeway by the Lake just jumped out at
us,” adds Ken. So the move to the adult lifestyle community of
their dreams didn’t take them very far from where they had
spent most of their working lives. It did, however, add greatly
to the quality of their lives.
“Had we stayed where we were living we would have been the
oldest people in the neighbourhood,” Ken says. Now that
we’re at Ridgeway by the Lake we’re with people who have
similar interests.”
“Like the knitting club,” Marlene exclaims, as a group
of women at Ridgeway by the Lake got together on a regular
basis to knit hats and mittens for needy children. They also
attend fashion shows as a group and even hold baseball games.
Both enjoy golf, and life at Ridgeway by the Lake ensures that they get their minimum daily requirement of (golf ) greens throughout the year.
What do they like the most about their home? “It’s being able to have your dream home,” Ken says. “We were able to change our home plan to suit our needs and the builder was only too happy to accommodate.” |
