Meet The Barretts
In this case “Heaven” is the home of Ian and Sue Barrett,
whose love for animals has taken them on a life-long
mission to care for unwanted dogs.Originally the Barretts
lived on a country property, surrounded by hundreds
of acres of forest and farmland, where calling the next-doorneighbour
involved long distance charges. “After 39 years of
isolation we were ready to change our lifestyle,” Ian says and
that’s how they came to live at Ridgeway by the Lake.
“We looked at a lot of places before deciding to buy here,” Sue
muses. “And we did find homes that we might have bought, if
we could have had the interiors changed to suit our needs.”
“That’s where Ridgeway by the Lake won out big time, because
no matter what changes we wanted, we always heard ‘Yes. No
problem’ we never heard the word ‘no,’” Ian says.
They customized the Driftwood townhome to suit their and
their dogs’ needs ending up with over 2,600 sq. ft. of elegant
and functional space backing onto greenbelt.
A big plus about moving to Ridgeway by the Lake was how
well the couple and their 3 dogs were received. “This is probably
the friendliest community we’ve ever lived in,” Ian says. “When
we’re out walking the dogs, we meet others living here and
spend a lot of time just chewing the fat.”
The Barretts are particularly excited about the Algonquin Club, the exclusive ‘residents only’ community centre. “I’m going to be able to get up at my usual 5:00am time and walk over to the club for a workout and then walk home for a shower. It doesn’t get much better,” Ian says.
Are the Barretts happy in their new home at Ridgeway by the Lake? “We have a very beautiful home, and have money left over to use for traveling,” Sue states. “We’vemade the rightmove.”
The dogs seem to agree as they contentedly snooze by the fireplace. |
